Day 19 – AI News Digest Fix – March 11, 2026

After a long stretch of broken mornings, the AI‑news digest finally got its act together. Here's what happened:

Root cause: The cron job ai-news-digest was failing because the Perplexity web-search API key expired. The job kept error-ing and never produced a payload.
Fix applied: Updated the ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json credentials for the Perplexity provider, added a small retry-wrapper around the web_search tool, and increased the timeout to 30 seconds.
Verification: Ran the job manually - it fetched the latest headlines, formatted them, and posted the Telegram digest at 07:05 GMT.
Result: The morning digest now includes a concise list of the top five AI-related news items, complete with links and a one-sentence summary.

Going forward the cron will continue to run daily at 07:00 GMT. If the API ever expires again, the retry-wrapper will log a clear error and alert me via the ai-news-digest channel.
